WHAT WE BELIEVE
– We believe the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is without error in the original manuscripts and providentially preserved. It is our supreme and final authority for the Christian faith and all of life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 1 Thessalonians 2:13)
- We believe there is only one God. He is the creator of the heavens and the earth. He eternally exists in three equal persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19)
– We believe Jesus is the eternal, only begotten, Son of God.. He took on humanity when He was conceived by the Holy Spirit. He was born of a virgin named Mary. Jesus lived a sinless life and after dying for our sins was bodily resurrected. Presently He intercedes for us before the Father in heaven. He remains forever fully God and fully human. (Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-3; 14; Colossians 1:16-17; Philippians 2:5-8; 1 Timothy 2:5)
– We believe the Holy Spirit came from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. He regenerates, sanctifies and empowers all who believe in Jesus Christ for salvation. (John 14:16-17; 16:8-11)
– We believe that all humans are sinners and therefore under condemnation. Yet God loved us so much that He punished His own Son for our sin when Jesus died on the cross. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus as Savior are given salvation – God’s gift of eternal life. (Romans 3:23; John 3:16; 14:6)
– We believe the universal Church is made up of all those who have trusted in Jesus as Savior. The Church began at Pentecost and its head is Jesus. The universal church is represented in this world by local churches that meet regularly for worship, fellowship and carrying out the mission of Jesus. (Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 4:15-16, I Corinthians 12)
– We believe in two ordinances: 1) Baptism by immersion and 2) The Lord’s Supper as instituted by Jesus for commemorating His death. These ordinances are to be carried out until the return of Jesus. (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3-4; 1 Corinthians 11:23-24; Matthew 26:26-30)
- We believe that Jesus will return for His Church at any time. Then following a period of divine judgment Jesus will personally and physically return to earth to establish His kingdom for a thousand years. We believe in a future resurrection of both believers and unbelievers; the believers to eternal joy in the presence of God and the unbelievers to conscious eternal punishment.
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-17; Revelation 20:1-6, 11-15)
